I like your lineup Mikey, but perhaps going with the last game's lineup with pretty much just Toni up top with Totti trailing just behind might be a good way to go = even more defense to counter their strong offense. I also think Toni (With his aggressive play) and Totti's tactical skill on the ball might cause tons of problems for the German D/lack there of. I would also eventually like to see Pippo enter the game with his ability to scramble and chase the ball around would cause massive issues for Germany who displayed in their games, especially against Argentina their inability to clear the ball successfully.

Unfortunately, if the need for an extra attacker to be brought on, Pippo is at the bottom of Lippi's list.

We cant lose to the team that looked so mediocre so recently, we just cant
You know what? That's exactly what I keep telling to myself. I saw all of Italy's games except for the last one (too drunk) and I wasn't impressed, the Argies looked like a much harder task.
How come so many bring up that friendly from a few months ago? Germany's main strengh has always been to perform as a strong unit. You can't perform as a unit after maybe one or two days of preparation someday in March when no player cares about the nt.

I hear people are cancelling their Italian holidays.

beating Ghana and Czech 2-0 a piece never happend though. And I dont want anybody to say how easy Italy's road to semi's has been. We had one of the harder groups, Germany had the easiest. We both deserve to be in the semi's just as much

The only goal against the Italians came off of their own defender's foot. Cannavaro has been unbelievable on the back line and Buffon is proving to be the best goalie of the tournament. I have watched every game of this tournament, Germany has a fine pressing attack with 2 excellent ball hawks up front. But Argentina was in complete control of the match Friday...that is until that bonehead subbed out Riquelme. Germany had more opportunity to possess and it was only a matter of time. Germany had many starters against Italy in their 4-1 drubbing before the tournament earlier this year. I think Toni scores 2, the Italians get a 3rd and Germany finally gets one past Buffon in the last 5 minutes...much like the 82 final. Italia 3 - Deutschland 1. :hump:

im gonna give you germans some food for thought here.

you just played 120mins of football against argentina, by the end of that game your team seemed spent, Ballack who is class, is injured, Frings is suspended.

Italy up until now have had it "easy", with great coaching dealing with suspensions and injuries, i bet you they are well rested, and the germans will most likely play into what italy does best, oh and they already said that no matter what happens they already achieved more than they thought they would, so must likely there will be no pressure for them.

you may have fan support but the players are the ones on the pitch, oh and also theres the fact the Italians seem to have the upper hand in previous games against you.

wtf? we was better in the 2nd half and the first half of the overtime. we are not worse than italy. i saw them live vs ukraine. ukraine had some really nice chances.... but in the 2nd half they were to offensive, that´s why italy scored the other 2 goals.

have i seen lehmann pulling some saves against argentina? no.
have i seen buffon working his ass off to keep the clean sheet against ukraine? yes.

buffon had some nice saves, yes. but kalinenchko (??) has not the best header, klose and ballack have good headers, so it could be a problem for italy. kalinencko had some nice header chanches...

germans says germany wins.
italy says they are better and wins.
german haters says germany looses...

like everytime. :)

we are now about 13.5 hours away from kickoff... it's 130am here in the States and there's no way in hell I'll be able to sleep tonight. Tomorrow is a great day for my country as we celebrate our independence by eating our arse off , but if Italy loses tomorrow that will most definitely ruin my day and my hunger. People just don't understand my and many others on this board passion for the game and the team we ruit for.

Most importantly, and I am going to bold this because I really want it to stick out... I hope after the final wistle, that whoever loses can have the humility to have respect for the winner... No crying or complaining like most threads have gone thus far. We are supporters of two of the best teams in the world and at the very minimal, semifinalists! No soar losers guys, even if one gets a PK when they shouldn't, or the ref blew the game. Whoever gets the result, congradulations and good luck in the finals. I am supporting Italy (If that wasn't obvious enough) and I don't care if we get robbed tomorrow because the ref takes away 3 goals that were legit... If Germany wins, well done and good luck! Of course I still burn my house down but I will with respect!

FORZA ITALIA!
