OK, the knife trick it is for me.

But before I order, are there problems playing the Japanese NTSC version on a PAL tv? Is it just a case of a slightly warped screen?

yup, you get a black and white pic on your pal tv UNLESS you got a good tv with PAL/NTSC selector OR an rgb cable

cheers jumbo,

i remember having problems with ntsc WE6 on my PAL tv - the pic was b&w even with an rgb cable :( ....but then i got the NTSC to PAL patch and got a colour pic but a slower game (which i liked) and a squashed picture (which was bearable)

maybe i just need to upgrade my tv ;)

Can't say I'm over impressed with the "very fast shipping" of my flip-top from PS2Cover.com! Ordered it on the 3rd (USPS Priority - Yes, I know I should have gone for 2nd day air!) and according to the label tracking it hasn't even been mailed yet!!! Crap. That means I'm gonna be looking at Saturday (9th) at best for it.

My game from Play-Asia is now at US Customs (again I didn't spend the money on the fast shipping like Jumbo) but then given my flip-top isn't here that hardly matters.

My advice, go for somebody other than PS2Cover.com, there's no way USPS Priority mail takes a week, I've had parcels sent by regular mail from England arriving in less time than it takes these guys to send stuff out.

That's because you're a big fokker!!!!!

Still not my def of "priority mail" though. That's actually the same or slower than regular mail.

That's 'coz I ordered mine on Thursday before the Independence Day. They would've shipped it faster but UPS are closed on holidays. ;)

just at a curiosity, why can't you use the EA method or any of the others on the page below? You don't need a mod chip or even have to remove the cd tray cover, all you need is a gameshark....(I'm talking about the booting FAQ below the thing about the mod-chip?) These method won't let you play originals, but it should be able to play a WE7 backup perfectly fine on an US NTSC tv...

the same EA method can be seen on this site too:

http://www.geocities.com/ipaidthebills/emu/info/booting_ps2_backups_for_dummies.html

"Insert AR2/GS2 Disc 1.
Power down the PS2 (red light should now be on)
Power up the PS2 and keep the power button pressed.
Wait for the AR2 menu to appear.
Select Start Game.
Select Without Codes.
Let go of the POWER button... The CD tray will open.
Swap the AR2/GS2 disc for your backup disc (you have 4 seconds)
The CD tray will auto-close.
Press X.

That should be most of your troubles out of the way…"

I was just about to order the Flip-Top, but I saw that the name of the product I was ordering was "Flip-top PS2 Case AND Swap Magic USA v2.0 COMBO". Does this mean that the Swap Magic CD only works for USA-consoles (since it's name is Swap Magic USA v2.0)?
