i think its based mostly on the year before so actually it is 2006 then i can see why they put Marquez because he was essential for Barca becoming league champion and winning Champions League....

IMO the best four players of the past 12 months would have to be in no particular order

Rudd Vanistelroy
Kaka

Kaka deserves it the most and cristiano ronaldo would be his closest contender. But kaka is better and if messi or c.ronaldo wins it then that would be a huge mistake

I'm not even going to pretend to be shocked. This shortlist is always a joke, Fernando Torres being the prime example this year. Would've loved to see Dani Alves there.........

How about some players that didn't play in Spain/France/England/Italy/Germany? Afonso Alves maybe? I've never seen him play, but it looks like he had a far better year than Henry and Etoo combined.

haha as usual players who dont deserve to be in the list are there. and i wont even put messi in top 3...he just hit form recently and did very little last season. As much as i hate totti...he won the golden boot and he is not even there?? Kaka and ronaldo should fight for 1st and 2nd places.

I'm second that. I think he reached his top this season while last season he wasn't that impressive.
