Guardiola's Manchester City Thread

No, Stones was specifically mediocre aswell as being in a flakey Everton side. Really, he was actually stand out bad in their defence and was dropped in the second half of the season, justifiably. Shifty's point is sound though - CB is just a different role in a guardiola team

Exactly. He hasn't mastered the skills of being a real bastard like pep and therefore engages in these crude antics

This Yaya situation is another example of Pep's high level bastardry - punishing and humiliating the player for comments his agent made and doing it in such a way that all the public are on his side.

He was done earlier, and once his agent opened his mouth he was basically cast aside forever. Blessing in disguise so to speak.

Guardiola wanted his agent to apologize to him for his earlier comments about Yaya not being in the CL squad for their first match. I cannot recall what he said but it was something idiotic. Hey here I found some quotes by the guy..

Guardiola earlier warned Yaya Toure he will never play for Manchester City again unless there is an apology after his outspoken agent accused the manager of “humiliating” the midfielder by omitting him from the club’s Champions League squad.

"I will apologise to Guardiola when he apologises for what he did to Manuel Pellegrini"

"I live in Europe so I can say whatever I like and Guardiola can't stop me."

Asked again whether he would apologise, Seluk finished: "Well, what do I need to apologise for?"

Seluk continued: "If Pep Guardiola wants a war, then he can have one.

"Pep didn't like my opinion? But what does he expect me to say when he does this to Yaya?

'If Pep Guardiola wants to prove himself as a great manager, he should go to Sunderland'

This is comedy gold. Both Yaya Touré and his agent are proper bellends. The Ivorian has proven it time and time again. He should fuck off to China or something. I cannot see any team willing or bothering to deal with those imbeciles.

Yaya Toure carried city for their title win, has been a big player for the club and only really stopped giving a fuck when the board totally undermined the authority of his manager (Pellegrini) by announcing he we being replaced at the end of the season. Yes his recent attitude has been bad but we should show him some respect and not pretend he has done nothing for that club

Yeah you cannot argue against that. Ever since he joined he has been a massive player for them, besides two recent years when he started to decline pretty badly and his attitude changed for the worse, also he sort of stopped giving a fuck.

From crying because the club didn't bake him a cake for his birthday or something to what it has become now. It's sort of ridiculous for a grown man who is supposed to be a professional to act this way.

While everyone here might sound like Yaya Touré is some hated figure and has forgotten about the stuff he has done for the club - it's not like that at all. But I think it's for the best for him and the club if he just moved on. There's too much drama caused by him and especially his boludo of an agent as well.

This gives Pep such a convenient excuse to just leave out Yaya. His age and positional indiscipline means he would never be given a serious chance anyway.

I think pep nice guy image is a facade and that he is actually the biggest managerial asshole in the game, he is just so good it goes unnoticed - notice his instigation against Rooney last week which he covered up with that handshake and then this huge cutting blow at Mourinho which goes in disguise of him just 'being a good sport' and praising his latest opponents

lots of support for that

Ribery: "Pep didn't have a long career as manager,He is a young coach. He lacks experience. Sometimes he talks too much. Football is very simple. I don't need to be told: Do this and this. I need be free on the pitch. I need face-to-face encounters, I need a motivating pat on the back. That was the case with Ottmar [Hitzfeld] and Jupp [Heynckes]. Ancelotti is cool, Ribery told Bild. [It is] Important to move forward quickly and score. Not playing too much back and forth."

Badstuber: "Our current coach likes to exchange opinions with the players, and so the conversation goes back and forth, With Pep, it was different. I would have to approach him because if I want to have a discussion then I will go looking for it. Of course it gives you a good feeling when the coach shows an interest. It was a bit different with our previous coach.''

Dante: ”He does not talk with you, as a player you will not know where you stand. There are coaches who are tactically class, but human like less just as Guardiola.”

Boateng: "As a person, Guardiola is more reserved, more withdrawn. He's always busy with tactics and the next opponent. It maybe was a bit unfortunate that the coach did not inform the team personally before he left for the Christmas holidays. Maybe it was planned differently [and] the decision was made public earlier than scheduled."

Ribery is a well known skeptic of all football tactics and resents any instructions given to him at all. Everyone you listed except for Boateng was not in Pep's plans. Go ask Lahm or Kimmich or Alaba or Neuer what they think. Boateng only seems to care about Pep not telling the team he was going on Holiday, so who cares.

Apparently he also said last week that he doesn't consider Griezmann world class.
Of course those who are not impressed by Pep are usually the ones who aren't in his plans.

There are many more and some were in his starting 11 too:

Eto'o: "I first of all reminded Guardiola that he'd never been a great player," Eto'o told BeIN Sports. "He was a good player, that's true. I told him. As a coach, he had proven nothing. He came in and didn't even know the story of the dressing room.

"Guardiola has never had the courage to say things in front of me. He passed by the players. Xavi told me they wanted me to stay but I had to talk to Pep. I say 'never, if you do not respect me, I do not respect you'.

"Pep told me how to move like a striker. I told him: 'You're not normal!' The true story is that Pep didn't respect the things in football.

"What hurt me is that they invent things that the press relayed. They wanted to send me to Uzbekistan. I stayed at my place and I told him that he will apologise for that in the future."

"He [Guardiola] shook hands with me when I was at Inter and I played against Barca, but this was just for the cameras and TV," Eto'o added. "Behind the scenes before the match, he did not greet me."

stupid example, players like Lahm, Neuer and Alaba are so nice ... you make Trump their head coach and they are fine with that ... true leader should be able to handle strong characters like Ibra, Eto'o, Toure and ... not just rejecting all ...

I understand you guys support Pep but he's no prophet ... he has some negative points like all other managers (people) ... even Sir Alex, all time great, made many mistakes ...

Who the fuck said he's a prophet or something? You started posting this quotes out of nowhere trying to prove... What, exactly?
