You paid for every one of those cars? How?

You realise that most families have 1, 2 and often none, right?

hahah I'm not a car thief, obviously :)

it's all about the needs.. most families that own 1 or 2 cars might have better economical conditions than I have but, if they don't need it they simply don't buy it.. I have to travel 150km's a day only to reach my work, and public transport isn't as good as europe..

You should move. 300km round trip every day is far too much for someone who can afford 10 cars with two porsches.

I hate big cities because of long commutes.

I still have my Mazda3 sport which is now 3 years old. I bought it new. I am almost done paying off the car. Next car I am considering is the BMW 4 series. It has a stunning design and is fun to drive. I won't need a second car for the next 5 years though.

it's a 150km round trip actually..

but I agree it is far enough.. we have a huge unoccupied house in the place I work, but the population is only 50,000 and hardly any social treats, or hardly any friends live there that I can get on well with.. so I live in a distant city.. 2m people live there, it's a beautiful city though it's nothing like istanbul..

There is still absolutely no reason to have so many cars for so few drivers.

..and this is an absolutely inept remark to make, without knowing anything about me.

everyone have their reasons to own cars. some cars I've owned, I bought them because I have passion for them, or respect their technical abilities, some just get me from A to B -cheaply and comfortably..

I asked you why you had so many cars and you said you needed them. There is no need for a higher ratio of car per driver than 1:1. There might be a desire, a convenience even, but certainly not a need.

Mandieta6 is jealous because Theodorakis is rich.

Having 1 economic car and 1 sports car for the summer is fine if you have the money IMO.

I can fathom one city car and one 7 seater for family trips.

I don't think I'd ever get a sports car. Don't get the appeal and they guzzle oil.

Guzzle oil? Or petrol (gas in American English)?

If I was really rich I would have an absolute max of 4 cars.

A super car for going fast, a convertible for summer drives, a 4WD for when I go to the bush, camping and shooting with my family, and a normal run around (likely something like an M3).

But I'd only ever do that if I had bought everything else I wanted and was comfortable. Multiple cars wouldn't be near the top of my priorities...but different people have different hobbies I guess.

As we all know, that sentiment (different strokes for different folks) is followed by "...and they are stupid."

Ford Focus. Good car.

absolutely.

hot versions of focus and golf are all the car men all need.. either those, or a range rover.. not the freelander, evoque or sport variations though.. either the autobiography, or the discovery.

I find the new Mazda 3 gorgeous, both inside and out.

however they had to raise prices to match the overall improvement. add 3 to 5 grand to the top spec of that and you could be looking at a 1 Series.

as for the ideal car setup, it's really hard to tell. a big ass SUV or at least a station wagon would be nice to have for those long family trips, but I couldn't stand driving one in daily urban traffic. then again, unless you leave for like a full month, or have more than one kid, any regular car should do, except maybe superminis (aka B segment).

If money were no object I'd have a G-Wagen.

I sincerely hope you'd buy it in the future.. you can't believe how special it feels.. mine had a V8 twin turbocharged diesel, it goes like stink.. ordinary sized guys feel tiny in it, you should be OK..

edit: actually it's a pimpwagen.. it is at its best when driven slowly.. and don't go for a g500 v8 petrol in it.. just go for the sensible diesel, or the hardcore AMG.. AMG version is not a car, it's a spacerocket (seriously)..

I completely agree about the Mazda 3.. it's a great little car..

and, this is the interior of an old BMW 1 series.. way better than the current one in my taste..

though BMW 1 series are lacking space, I had driven a 118i as a test car then straight into a Mark VI Golf ... it felt like I stepped out of a B segment and went into a C segment car.. it's really tiny.. and, not that good to drive to be honest.. 3 series E90 was lacking comfort but it was brilliant, we also have a F30 320i as a company car but it doesn't feel anywhere near like the E90.. before that F30, we had an F10 BMW 520d and I think it was horrible.. it looks like it feels good, you get the impression that it feels good but living with it? no..

530d is OK though.. I've had it as a hire car for a couple of times..
