etc . . .

They had the most punk attitude I've seen in the last 4 years. The music's superb and ORIGINAL, unlike the 'punk-pop' acts of the 90's. Shame they broke-up, but you always have The Mars Volta. Their new album blew me away. I recommend it to everybody who's into punk but looks for a new sound.

About punk bands, I've played in one for 5 years, so that should say a lot already. NOFX, Greed Day, The Clash, early Offspring, Pennywise, etc., but also stuff like Sublime (one of my fave bands ever), Primitive Reason were my companions during my teens.
'Punk rock saved my life...'

Shame those 90's poppy sell-out bands claim to be punk; they destroyed all punk stood for.:kader:

Bad Religion are probably my favorite. Actually Green Day are, but since you don't consider them punk then bah :p Oh... Actually I'd probably put Less Than Jake ahead of both of them.

I like some Anti Flag and NOFX. And Offspring too. I have a few songs from Millencolin, Pennywise, and Vandals.

And about Good Charlotte, Simple Plan, etc. I admit I like some of their music. I don't think they're punk, I don't think they're great, but I like some of it :|

Somebody mentioned At the Drive-In. Good call. I bloody loved that band. What the hell happened to Cedric's voice? It's all high-pitched and ear-shattering, now.

As for Fezes, they're a good fashion statement but I prefer the World War One uniform I plan to buy. It's the British Sea Power obsession that I have. I can't stop it!

Yeah, bro. At The Drive-In were the empitome of original music. It was a shame they broke up, but The Mars Volta and Sparta fill in a little bit of the void.

What your mouth there kiddo,i don't care what you say about Blink and GCH but give respect to the Offspring and Green Day.

It is very clear that you never listened stuff from Ignition or Ixnay on the Hombre (offspring albums) i'm sure you only listened to the most ****ty stuff like Pretty Fly that i admit are bad but overall the Offspring kicks ass.

And like them or not, you gotta have respect to Green day, they gave life to punk in the 90s and have one of the best albums of all time: dookie

Wow, its been a long time since I was called "kiddo". :crazyboy:
Maybe its because I've been around a while and actually grew up listening to the real punk bands back in the seventies.

Anyway, I have listened to most of the Offspring's music and they did nothing for me. A couple of songs were good, I'll admit. I hate that "Get a job" song with a passion. It is an obvious rip-off of a Beatles song which makes them even less punk, IMO.

I like Green Day much better. I really like that acoustic song they got popular with, but honestly, can you really say it is a punk song? The fact that it was popular makes it "pop" music. They are much more punk than Offspring could ever hope to be, though.

Besides, there were many other bands in the 90's which defined punk music without making it to the pop charts, such as some of the bands I previously listed. To me the point of being labeled a punk band is to not get popular because then every little wannabe will end up ruining what the band actually stands for.
Disassociating yourself from the mainstream and pop charts is what makes a real punk band survive. The underground support and loyalty define a real punk band rather than album sales.

Most of the supposed punk bands in the 90's really did not do much for the "real" punk movement because they only turned it into another pop fad. Where are the Offspring and GD now? Another band with a different name but similar look and sound has just taken their place, that's all! Let's see where Good Charlotte are in another 5 years. Nobody even cares about Blink anymore and that's where they'll be soon, too. Once they are off the pop charts, that is!

Anyway, I'll take any punk band over half of the rehashed crap that is out there these days. Peace.

I loved it when the Ramones played on the Simpsons.
