what bothers me is not anything related to united and msi and all the financial part.
what botehrs me is Gill's comments that "he wasn't required at the club".
which is pathetic.

Yeah, you can't jump to conclusions like that, it is fair enough IMO. Maybe Mascherano isn't the type of player SAF was looking for. Maybe the first time MSI offered him to us they wanted a ridiculous amount of money for him and the loan deal smells fishy to me, it was clearly going to be on MSI's terms and I think that it was a good move by rejecting it (it isn't our policy anyway by loaning star players), maybe we could have had problems at the end. And as I said a few weeks ago spending this huge amount of money on Mascherano is a risk which we can't take atm. we need a good established proven player and I believe that Hargreaves is that player. Maybe SAF and co. decided to keep the remaining budget and try it again in January instead of spending it on the last day of the transferwindow

No it is not about who's better, Fletcher and O'shea can handle the EPL, they aint the best players, but they can play in the EPL. Gill isn't questioning Mascherano's ability, but the question is can he play in the EPL, Mascherano is a huge risk, if we spend 20 mil and he flops then people will be criticising SAF again by buying the wrong players, we can't have another flop atm, especially one with a huge price tag and loaning him isn't an option. Let's see how they play at West Ham. I am sure that we weren't the only club they were offered too, it seems West Ham was prepared to take that risk

How do you know it is 20 million?

btw, read that Arsenal were preparing to offer us Ashley Cole. But the player rejected the move because of Heinze.

Help?

Man Utd rejected Mascherano offer

Mascherano played for Argentina in the 2006 World Cup
Manchester United turned down the opportunity to sign Argentine midfielder Javier Mascherano on two occasions during the summer.
On Thursday Mascherano, 22, along with striker Carlos Tevez, 22, signed for West Ham from Corinthians of Brazil on permanent deals for undisclosed fees.

"We were never interested in Tevez," United chief executive David Gill told BBC Five Live's Sportsweek programme.

"We were also offered Mascherano but we didn't want to go for him."

Gill added: "We were offered Mascherano for a significant sum at the start of the summer and also last week on a loan deal.

"We had watched him last season but the manager and his staff didn't want to pursue him.

"While he is clearly a very good player it was decided he wasn't required at the club."

What a ******* cocksucker! Gill has no authority at United, he just makes a smiling face and covers up for all the **** at the club, making it look like we are just ******* fine!

That's right, even Ashley knows who's better.

well, defensively, no doubt. attackwise, its the other way round for sure as well. but considering you guys want Scholes-Carrick in the middle, Heinze is the better bet.

I can see why you rejected the loan offer though. Sure, you'd be covered for the rest of the season, but if he played well, I can only imagine the HUGE fee MSI would be demanding. Then you'd be back to square one again.

Personally, I think Gill is talking out his ass. There is no way, on planet f*cking earth, that a young, tailor-made player that you all needed, offered on loan, would have been rejected. You already took Kuzicak or whatever his name is on loan, so its clearly not the indignity of doing that that bothers the club. With your limited finances, after they bought Carrick, I am highly doubtful they wouldve really been willing to splash out as much as they were rumored to for Hargreaves.

Mascherano, near the end, on loan, wouldve been a f*cking coup for your lot. Pay a players wages and get a talent like that for a year. Even if you lost him, you always take what you can get to help your team now, because the transfer landscape could be totally different next summer

are u guys brain dead or somethin,,west ham have signed him on loan,,and the money that msi was probably crazy,,there is a lot of thinks in the deal that havent been relesed,,MSI want to own the player and not the club,,and united probably said the door is that way see yourself out,,but westham on the other hand

those deals are permanent, not loans

They are gambling that they can get the club. If they cant, then they will probably be off soon enough, but I think West Ham are going to find themselves suddenly very rich within the month

They are certainly not permanent but for a few seasons maximum, reading between the lines it's clear that Tevez wants to play for a topteam in England but right now settles for West Ham to get used to the league and English football but I wouldn't be surprised if he signs for one of the top three within 2 years and the same goes for Mascherano.

Yeah just like the story about Heitinga is :sb9: but if Johnny leaves then I hope it will be to United of course. It would be fantastic for Heitinga and he deserves it. We already have his replacement in the team (Ogararu).
I hope he stays though at least for this season.
This story is nowhere to be found on any Dutch sites btw let alone on the Ajax website(s) so untill it's not on those sites I say it's rumours and nothing more.

EDIT: Just read the news on Ajax network so it must be true then but 5mil is an insult of course. No way Ajax will let him go for that fee. At least 7 or 8mil is more realistic for our great defender.
Ajax also wants to open talks with Heitinga to break open his contract in order to keep him for the club for a few seasons more.
