What's So Bad WC 2002? NOTHING.

I am not trying to ruin this forum, I want EA to read these threds and develop a footie game not a shi_t like this. First of all I don't agree with you EA improving this game, yet another year and another shi_t.

Canada 10.......i think we need Konami to read this more than we need EA.....if Konami introduces ISS on pc it would have beaten WC hands down...besides i've already given up on EA. why should we believe in EA when year after year they dish out the same **** only to apply cosmetic changes to the latest instalment?at the rate they r going i believe they should be better off producing animated movies like shrek or toy story??.....okay they did make radical changes to the passing system in fifa2002 but has the gameplay improved? the off the ball running was horrendous it resembles nothing like in real football...where`s the overlapping run by the full back? the CPU AI is so all-conquering it plays the long ball up the flanks to the winger who almost always gets to the ball and runs free to score a goal...tell me how often does that happens in real life? more often than not the player will be caught offside in such situation.i've read from somewhere that Konami's programmers has watched last season's clash between roma and liverpool to produce ISSPE2.. u can certainly apply the soak and strike tactics adopted by liverpool as much as the all out attack of roma...dat's wat strategy is all about.and i'm sure fans of ISS and WE will tell you how satisfying it is to score a goal from curling freekicks(much practice is required to perfect it),or a brilliant interchange of passes to culminate in a brilliant 25 yarder....makes you wonder how much of a football person those EA programmers are.....I certainly think North Americans have lots of catching up to do in their knowledge of soccer ...so much so that they could actually find no flaws with this piece of screw-up called world cup 2002.....

Did you EA critics ever realize that the EA SPORTS titles are GAMES, and NOT simulations? A "game" is played for entertainment, for R&R, to get away from reality... sort of like watching a movie, or a tv show... do tv shows enact what happens to people in real life? no... its just entertainment.

In the same way, these football titles aren't branded as football simulations, but GAMES. EA is a company running a business, not a football school. For all those critics who keep sacking EA with comments about the realism (strategy, movement...etc.) of their games, go put on your football boots and head for the park because thats the only real football you'll get.

FIFA, WORLD CUP, and EURO titles by EA SPORTS were made for people to be entertained, not to be stressed out by the blistering sun and the pressures of managing a team. Nor was it made to carefully reenact the life of a football player in training and strategic management, all the way to running up and down a football pitch playing his heart out until the final whistle is blown. I'm guessing that those who want a true football experience in their computer games are true life losers. Get out of this forum and try out for your club or varsity team! leave us gamers to discuss what we enjoy doing.

Man your absolutely correct but I will give another chance to EA. If it fails me again then I will buy a PL2 and never touch FIFA again. I am collecting money already. Its not a big deal to buy a PL for $500 Cnd but I have to pay my car.

Its because WE4 and WE 2000 are the most popular game for WE fans. I know there is WE italian serie A version or WE 2002 but i think it just a WE 2000 modificated with update roster. I know WE5 is the best WE series for now. But there is no many people had playing it. I have many friends as WE fans who never playing it. That because not many people have PS2 if compared with PSone and PS2 still hard to find in rental place too. I think its unfair to compare WE2000 with FIFA97. At least you should compared it with FIFA 2000 even FIFA 2000 is not so good anyway But FIFA97 is too worst. Its teriblle. Fifa97 should be compared with WE1 that i think WE1 still won too.

Well, if you're playing the game holding down x or square all the time then you're not really good at the game. Its useful if you're new to the game, but against a level 5 CPU or a WE pro you'll gonna get you're *** kicked pretty hard. They'll run rings around your player. Anticipation and timing is the key. Also you said:

kalbo3...like most of the people in this thread, you have never played any version of iss, from the PsONE version of ISS Pe2 that was released ages ago to the new PS2 versions of WE6. One of the main misconceptions of people who have NEVER played a game of ISS is that it is a "simulation", so it must be extremely difficult and so realistic that it must be no fun to play. While ISS is challenging, the gameplay is much more FUN, deep and satisfying. On the other hand, FIFA's arcade game consists of shallow, repetitive gameplay. I wouldn't have a problem with FIFA's "arcade" game, if it was a GOOD game, but it just falls short in so many areas. To tell you the truth, the psone version of ISS PE2 is not very difficult to pick up and I have had plenty of friends come over and play without spending hours on end learning the game. I think you should at least try a game of ISS before you say anything. Just a question, how many people have you seen who have tried ISS and gone back to FIFA. Few if any. Most ISS fans were FIFA 98 fans who got sick of FIFA getting worse and tried ISS and found it much better. I think most people you have labelled as "Ea haters" are people who tried WC2002 and said it was bad. What's wrong with someone playing the game and saying what they think about it. Anyways you should be comparing WC2002 to WE6, the graphics in WE6 are actually BETTER than those in WC2002 and the gameplay is miles beyond WC2002. What i mean is not Counter Attack. Like you said im not really good at this game. I found its hard to enter my friend penalty box. So i prefer to do like want to enter his penalty box but suddenlly pass the ball back to midfield player and midfield player do long shoot from outside. Its nothing about counter attack. And when i can scoring this way you can imagine how disapointed my friend was that he try so hard to score with many ways like try some crossing or do some good passing but he miss cause my defender is too strong inside penalty box even i think he dominate the match. I never try CPU level 5 (i think in WE level just easy,normal, and hard in japanesse language) so i don't know pressing square and x button is work or not. But its effective enough when i play against some of my friends. well im not always press that button when deffending. its deppend on situation either.

Please listen, i'm not try to bring this game down and i'm not try to say FIFA is better than WE. This is a great game. I just want to show that this game is not perfect. But like V-9 said the problem i mention is already fixed in WE5 and i never play WE5.

And canadian.10 why you so happy to pushing me. i'm not like you that just because i like FIFA, i have to hate WE. I'm not like that. I just hate to see how you act like Mr. Know all about football and always say teriblle thing about FIFA that i think you're not even try to enjoy the game. But after read some of your latest post, i see you give some try to enjoy the game too like try to change big.ini file for defence line. So i guess i probablly wrong.

Is that true that we have 50% chance to scoring with a header from midfield?? Well it just happen once to me when i play in demo and i'm not so in midfield as well.

Sorry to offend you. I did not mean to . Yes I gave another try to play the game cause I was borred and had not soccer game to play, still did not enjoy it. Then I changed the ini file figured out how to bring the defense back, to tell you the trueth the game got better I am smiling. I changed the ball velocity, ball gravity the defensive line..... But defenetely FIFA 2003 is my last hope then no matter what I am getting a PL2 for PES. I wish I havn't lost my ISS CD

Huh? What in hell does that have to do with the realism of the game? The way I see it, you're good, your friend sucks. As simple as that.

I know, I believe you. But you're giving all the wrong examples. If wanna know bout the flaws of the game just take a look at the PES forum. There's plenty of it. But none of it is what you've just described.

BTW I just made up that 50% number. But the fact that you can actually score a header from midfield is what made it totally unrealistic. I mean, what the hell was EA thinking about?

Well ISS on GBA is not that great, but the latest WE on GBA rocks!!! Better gameplay than ANY FIFA games, period. Have you tried that one though? Here a link to a thread about the game:
